The Assessment & Clinical Understanding training was developed in response to the need for improved assessment and clinical formulation skills. The training is designed for In Home Therapy (IHT) clinicians, Intensive Care Coordinators (ICC), Outpatient therapists and their supervisors.
The modules address topics such including:
- how to gather relevant information,
- how to consider child development in the course of assessment,
- the role of culture in assessment, and
- how to develop and communicate a case formulation.
The Training includes modules that can be used during supervision or be self-guided; case studies to teach skills; videos to demonstrate the skills; and sample assessment tools. Facilitators who are skilled clinicians provide feedback and guidance in the Stop & Apply applied sections.
Two additional trainings: Assessing Substance Use in Adolescents and Assessment in Early Childhood are designed as follow-on modules to the Assessment & Clinical Understanding Training.
